OLIVE, was an unhandled broodmare estimated to be around 20 when she arrived here 2016.  She was surrendered along with her 2 year old stud colt, yearling filly and the stud that fathered them as a result of a meth lab raid. She had zero interest in humans and even less trust for them. Although we made some progress over the years to more easily handle her, she is NOT easily caught, not even in her stall and if you are a stranger, you might as well forget it.  Over the years we have come to a mutual understanding and despite not being able to catch her when turned out, even for food. She has learned that when the gate is open to run in and go to her stall all on her own. Once there she will allow herself to be caught. 
She is very bonded with Popeye, her longtime companion and father of her offspring who is the exact opposite of her. Popeye loves attention and there isn't much he wouldn't do for a cookie.
After almost 5 years here with us we received our first adoption application for both Olive and Popeye. It would have been an amazing home for them but at the last minute after speaking with their vet they rescinded their home offer.
So on 9/11/2021, their 5 year anniversary here with us. Olive and Popeye were given permanent sanctuary here with us.
